How To Style Your Prints

How prints work differently on different colour types and how to make them work for you.

Creative’s best prints are: Aztec, Paisley, Ethnic, Oriental, woven patterns, and anything handmade or hand-stamped. Their stripes love a chevron formation, bold, playful, and a little unexpected.

An Eye’s best prints are: stripes, spots, geometric, bold black-to-white (with a pop of another colour if you like), framed prints, and any high-contrast pattern that jumps off the background.

Hair’s best prints are: cloudy, soft, splodge-like, blended watercolours, flowers still attached to the vine, or sun-bleached, weathered patterns. Their stripes work beautifully in colour rather than black/white, think gentle and soft hues.

Vibrant’s best prints are: uniform florals (polka-dot style), stripes in high, medium, or low contrast, polka dots of any shape, coloured animal prints, or multi-colour patterns in the same shape, think fireworks bursting across your outfit.

Any colour type can wear another type’s best prints, just stick to your own colour palette.

Example: I’m naturally a Hair Romantic, but my personality is Creative.

That means I collect my Romantic prints that suit my colour type the best, along with my favourites, which are Creative prints like Aztec, Paisley, Ethnic, Oriental, woven or hand-stamped patterns plus chevron stripes, but only in my best Hair colours.

Why this works: Your Personality prints make you feel like you; your colours keep them flattering.

Mix the two and suddenly your wardrobe clicks.
