Dressing your Hourglass Figure
Here are some key tips for hourglass body shapes when choosing jackets, blazers and vests:
1. Emphasize the Waist: Since the hourglass figure is all about feminine curves, go for jackets that you can cinch in at the waist or come with a belt. Soft fabric blazers, cardigans, and wrap jackets are your best friends. Look for blazers with some fluid shape that follows your natural curves. Go for anything that behaves as if you have poured a bottle of bubbles over your body (it follows every nook and cranny on its way down).
2. Fitted Through the Shoulders: Make sure your jacket fits snugly through the shoulders. A tailored fit in this area balances your curves without adding extra bulk, allowing the hourglass shape to shine.
3. Single-Breasted Over Double-Breasted: Single-breasted blazers are ideal as they keep the focus on your waist and prevent adding bulk to your chest. If you do choose double-breasted, make sure it’s a long length and oversized to hang more at your sides. Buttons on an angle (if you choose to wear a vest) will also break up the torso avoiding a thickening through the midsection and not doing up all of your buttons (stopping at your waist) on a straight buttoned vest will emphasise your hourglass figure.
4. Choose the Right Length: Longer styles, especially those that hit at the thigh, can elongate your frame, while cropped blazers with lots of waist detail also work well to enhance your waistline.
5. Wear it Open: Wearing your jacket, blazer or vest open can highlight your waist even more, especially if you have a tucked top underneath. You can include a feature belt beautifully here for extra waist enhancement
These tips will ensure you always pick jackets, blazers and vests that flatter and celebrate your hourglass curves!
