Styling a Print Chiffon Blouse

Chiffon blouses have this beautiful balance to them.

They’re soft, a little sexy, and when they come in a print, they instantly become more interesting.

But this is where most women default to the obvious. They pair them back with something simple, and the outfit stops there.

Rather than playing it safe, mix the energy.

Pair your print chiffon blouse with a sequin or “after 5” skirt.

Then ground it by adding a pair of muck-out boots for that casual edge and a structured director’s bag to bring it back to office polished.

This is where the outfit starts to feel styled, not just worn.

Keep Your Prints Together

One of my favourite ways to wear a print blouse is to keep all the “interest” in one area. I’ll often add:

• print reading glasses
• and a print bag

This creates a deliberate print clash, but it feels intentional because it’s contained together.

If You Prefer Denim

If sequins feel like too much, go back to denim but make it current.

Reach for a more on-trend pair (you may even have some tucked away from years ago).

This gives your blouse a modern edge so it doesn’t fall into that old “jeans and a nice top” category we all remember.

Layering It Right

A trench works beautifully over chiffon.

Just make sure you avoid going too “matchy”.

Let there be a subtle difference in tone between the print and the trench coat, that’s what keeps it elevated.

And always check your hem lengths.

Your trench should finish at a different end point than your jeans, so the outfit delivers elongation, not blocks like a fridge/freezer.

Because when you start mixing genres, placing your prints with intention and balancing lengths, that’s when your outfit starts to look effortless, and considered at the same time.
