Winter Trend Vintage Fashion Revival

I'm loving the Vintage fashion revival that's getting us into those op shops and sourcing items online from second-hand sellers.

And of course, I'm loving those current designers who are deeply inspired by the 70s bringing those high quality classic nostalgic pieces back.

I was born in 1972 and have fond memories of the long denim dress/coat, cord, taupe (brown) colours, platform shoes, trench coats, sun ray pleat skirts, flared jeans, and wide leg pants that my Mum used to wear so gorgeously.

Only today and at the age of 50, I do need to wear these items differently.

I don't want to look like I've gone back in time, I want to look like I've bought the past forward by giving it a modern day edge.

Adding items to each outfit that wouldn't have been around back then, paired together or that have evolved dramatically over the years adds that modern spin.

Wearing a vintage inspired denim dress/coat over a crisp white tracksuit with current on-trend loafers is a surefire way to modernise this look.

Even though I have doubled up on the Vintage trend with the denim dress and wide leg cord pants here, I've added a modern cross body hand bag with my modern detail top white street sneakers.

Don't be afraid to mix a current slinky sexy blouse with those wide leg cord pants.

As long as the colour theory is at play (taupe pants with my burgundy print blouse), it will work!

The tuck is very important with adding the curve at the waist with these pants too.

Add a casual comfy over sized knit back with your nostalgic sunray pleated skirt.

Colour theory again will make any outfit look modern - cobalt blue knit with Moss green pleated skirt.

The classic trench teamed up with some waxed droppies and modern print ankle boots.

Do you happen to have anything catching dust in your wardrobe that you could take out for a fresh spin?

It's just like how we add something we wouldn't wear to bed when wanting our casual track pants to not look like pajamas. We add a fancier shoe like a classic loafer or some jewelry or elevate the look with a blazer.

When reinventing Vintage, we add something they wouldn't have worn back then or at least, never worn together.

Fashion is fun, style is forever and you already have everything you need hanging in your closet right now.

Let me know how you get on.
