Do You Own The Right Boots For Your Wardrobe
Before you go long boots shopping (or even when shopping in your own wardrobe), the first and most important thing is to note what colour skirts and dresses you tend to wear over Winter.
Contrasting your last hem line is the key.
I enjoy wearing a midi boot (stops below where my calf muscle begins) with my long skirts with splits.
A long skirt with a strongly defined split shows off a midi boot completely and that should be your goal - expose the entire boot always. Even if it's just through the split.
If I wanted a second pair to wear with these skirts (above), I would go for a warm tan colour. If I was wearing warm tan midi boots, my hair would be considered the dark in these outfits.
Over-the-knee boots are a big trend this winter but I have had mine for years and years and wear them every single Winter (trends become classics when they suit your personal style).
Over-the-knee boots are pricey so you want to invest right the first time.
If you know that you will be wearing them with your light dresses, light short skirts or light shorts - go a dark as you can find.
Same goes with dresses you own in dark, go with a light pair.
But the most versatile over-the-knee boots colour is a warm tan. These will go with both light and dark along with coloured dresses.
Always make sure that the over the knee boots heel is flat or has a low block heel to achieve this look tastefully.
Chuck a coat over the top of a dress that meets the over-the-knee boots for an even more casual relaxed and confident ensemble (and so warm).
o whether you are looking at long boots or are wanting to give over the knee boots a try, take note of your Winter wardrobe first and only buy the contrasting colour that will work the hardest.
