It's Such A Nice Feeling When My Girls Steal My Clothes

I don't notice this much at the time anymore but I smile about it once cuddled up in bed (with a good book) at night.

Imagine this...

Our girls (18 and 19) and I are hanging out in the kitchen drinking cups of tea out of mugs that we sourced from the op shops (That's another thing we love to do together) while hovering around the kitchen (it always seems to be the meeting place doesn't it? just like the staff lunchroom) and Tenley (left of photo) asks...

"Mum, I'm off to a winery on Sunday so can I please borrow your vanilla cream blazer to go over my paisley boho dress just in case it turns cool?"

*Tenley is a Vibrant colour type with a creative personality so she collects items in her warm vibrant colours, but in her Creative personality prints (she also loves her natural vibrant prints). She suits smooth fabrics (which means that she can wear both smooth and texture - Boss Babes will understand this bit a little more).

*Indy is a Hair colour type with a creative personality who suits textured fabrics the best.

Whoops! Back to our convo.

Me: "Sure hun, what shoes will you be wearing with it?"

Tenley: "I'm going to do my Kahki wedge platforms and my woven (on-trend) clutch we found at the op shop a few months ago".

Me: "Great choice, sounds like fun".

Now that conversation above may sound all pretty chilled and nothing to really take notice of BUT...

I remember when I was 18 and would madly run to the shops every Friday after work (with an income that didn't sustain this), which meant missing eating dinner (this was a total disaster once the alcohol hit) just so that I had something brand new for the weekend.

AND then... I would never ever wear it again.

You can see why I lay there at night in a full body and mind glow (the kind that you get after a warm bath, a clay face mask and a lovely glass of South Australian wine) knowing that I have raised Children who choose to direct their money into life experiences and further self-education while not adding to landfill and are curating their perfect wardrobe (which they love and adore).

It's absolute bliss! For them. For me. (And for their Partners).

I wish I knew back then all that I know now.

For me from around the age of 18 until 38 years, my biggest stressor was not knowing what to wear. The social pressure of always needing to look put together well, wearing the latest trends (what rot!) and trying to look thin was enormous!

That was such an insane amount of stress which pretty much dictated how I felt about myself.

Yuck!

We don't need to change who we are, or our size or go broke over just getting dressed.

  • Buying the right clothes that fit us (as we are and yes, they are out there).

  • Using what we already own and tweaking it in a new way that feels different (this is how we follow trends in BOSS).

  • While investing in a statement item that suits us perfectly, will be worn forever and brings us so much joy because we were confident in that (rather large) purchase (another Boss benefit).

I am thrilled to Betsies that I have been able to teach all 3 of our kids the benefits of having a wardrobe system that is timeless, the power in knowing who you are while working with your natural-born assets.
